Denmark hosted the official European championship for young skilled professionals in 2025. A total of 576 talented young skilled athletes from across Europe competed for European Championship medals across 38 different trades

EuroSkills Herning 2025 was Europe’s largest competition for young skilled professionals – an international gathering where talent, craftsmanship, and innovation took centre stage. The aim was to increase interest in vocational education and training and demonstrate that skilled professionals play a crucial role in our shared future. EuroSkills 2025’s vision was to renew interest in vocational education and highlight how skilled professionals can become frontrunners in driving growth, welfare, and the green transition.

The legacy of EuroSkills Herning 2025

Awareness of EuroSkills Herning 2025 more than doubled among young people (from 26 % to 49 %) and increased significantly among parents (from 42 % to 59 %), primarily driven by coverage in the press, media, and social media.

Fewer young people now perceive vocational education as reserved for certain groups and more believe that vocational education offers good opportunities for further study and exciting careers.

Awareness of vocational education has increased in the general population, with the proportion who had never heard of vocational education falling from 19 % to 16 % following EuroSkills Herning 2025.

More parents now choose vocational education as their first priority for their children, with a 5-percentage point increase, and more have EUX as their second priority.

Around 40 % of students and 70 % of teachers report gaining new knowledge about vocational education and job opportunities, and nearly 30 % of students are more interested in choosing vocational education after attending.

Both young people and parents feel that EuroSkills Herning 2025 has increased awareness and created a more positive image of vocational education – among young people, the perception of a positive effect rose from 59 % to 70 %, and more now believe EuroSkills Herning 2025 can encourage more to choose vocational education.
