Danish National Championship
The Danish National Championship is the annual championship for young skilled students from the Danish vocational schools. About 300 students participate in the competition to become the Danish champion within more than 35 different skills. Further 15 skills are showing their trade in workshop demonstrations.
More than 68.000 guests visited the Danish National Championship Copenhagen in 2015 during 3 days of competition.
The next Danish National Championship will be held from February 4th to 6th 2015 in the city of Fredericia in The Trangle Region of Denmark.
The Danish National Championship gives the students a chance to show their talents. It is also a way to improve their skills and show the outside world – including students from secondary schools – the varied and exciting possibilities that the vocational educations have to offer.
The Danish National Championship takes place in January or February every year and moves around, so that a new city and region hosts the championship every year. It is always open for everyone and the entrance is free!
Skills for Secondary School Students
Before the Danish National Championship, there is a relay race for 8th graders from the secondary schools all over Denmark. The idea with the relay race is to engage the visitors from the 8th grades in active participation related to the competing skills shown at the Danish National Championship.
During the Danish National Championship there will be hammered, drilled, welded, cut, designed – in other words, worked hard and concentrated within in a great variety of skills. Hundreds of the most skilled students from the Danish vocational schools will do their best to win the Danish National Championship and show the world what exiting educational possibilities the vocational schools has to offer.
SkillsDenmark invites all secondary schools students to visit the Danish National Championship and experience the skills up close.
The students from the secondary schools will take actively part in the event. They can try out different skills, and if they have questions about educations, they can ask an education counselor. There are various small competitions for the visitors – and the great finale of the relay race for the 8th graders will take place on Friday.
